Audition Process
Once your application for admission has been completed The Boston Conservatory requires a performance audition and/or interview depending on your major.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to audition in-person at The Boston Conservatory whenever possible. The Boston Conservatory recognizes, however, that travel can be costly and does offer alternatives: regional and recorded auditions.

A complete application, transcripts and recommendations must be received prior to the audition. Audition requirements vary by your performance division. Please, carefully review requirements and note any special instructions for your field of study.

A selection committee, comprised of Admissions representatives and faculty, are available at a number of audition sites around the country. Please review the Music, Dance or Theater audition web pages for detailed information on audition requirements for your program.

Recorded Auditions
Boston Conservatory accepts recorded auditions for most majors and instruments. Please refer to the specific audition requirements for your major. The audition requirements for recorded auditions are the same as for live auditions, except as noted.
Our preferred method for submitting your recordings is through our ArtsApp portal, at www.artsapp.com/bostonconservatory. You will need to register at www.artsapp.com/boco, and submit your prescreen (if required) by December 1 and your recorded audition by February 1. The submission fee is $10.
- Applicants submitting video should be sure the recordings are appropriately lit and are in focus.
- Applicants who choose to submit a recorded audition should make every effort to have the best possible recording made of their audition performance.
- Recorded auditions that are of poor quality often result in a student being denied admission.
- Applicants should also include a statement about themselves containing important information they would like to convey to the faculty.
If you wish to mail a recording, please see below:
- All CDs/DVDs must be clearly labeled, both on the recording and on the outside case, with the name of the applicant, degree, instrument/division, and a tracklist of the pieces recorded.
- All CDs/DVDs must be mailed to:
