Adrian Morejon

Bassoon Faculty

Praised for his "teeming energy" and "precise control" by The New York Times and having "every note varnished to a high gloss" by the Boston Globe, New York-based bassoonist Adrian Morejon has established himself as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral musician.  

Morejon has been an active chamber musician in the New York area. Aside from being a founding member of Sospiro Winds, he has performed with the Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players, the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), the Talea Ensemble, the Metropolis Ensemble, the St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble, the Manhattan Sinfonietta, the Second Instrumental Unit, the Eupraxia Arts & Music Collective, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Chamber Music Northwest and as a part of the Great Performers Series at Lincoln Center. An experienced orchestral musician, Morejon is co-principal of the IRIS Orchestra and has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Orchestra of St. Luke's, the Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP), Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas, the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, the Charleston and Taipei symphony orchestras and the Brooklyn and Hudson Valley philharmonic orchestras.

Morejon was a recipient of Theodore Presser Foundation Grant, 2nd prize of the Fox-Gillet International Competition and a shared top prize at the Moscow Conservatory International Competition. During the past summers, he has participated in many festivals, including the Monadnock Music Festival, the NJO Academy in the Netherlands, the Chamber Music Institute, Spoleto USA, the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria, the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Banff Centre, National Orchestral Institute, Music Academy of the West, the Verbier Festival and FOSJA in Puerto Rico.  

Morejon completed graduate studies at the Yale School while studying with Frank Morelli. Prior to this, Morejon studied bassoon with Bernard Garfield and the harpsichord with Lionel Party at the Curtis Institute of Music.

Morejon is currently on the faculty at The Boston Conservatory, the Praxis Youth Leadership Orchestra and the Composer's Conference at Wellesley College.
