Benjamin Levy

Double Bass Faculty

Benjamin Levy earned a B.M. from the New England Conservatory (NEC). His teachers have included David Potter, Todd Seeber, Timothy Pitts, Paul Ellison and Stuart Sankey. Levy has performed with the Borromeo and Hawthorne string quartets and with soprano Dawn Upshaw. In 2002, while at the Tanglewood Music Center, Levy received the Maurice Schwartz Prize and was reviewed in The New York Times for his performance of Jacob Druckman's Valentine for solo double bass. Levy joined the bass section of the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) at the start of the 2003 Tanglewood season.
