Christopher James Webb

Christopher James Webb earned his B.A. in theater performance from Western Michigan University and his M.F.A. in acting from the National Theatre Conservatory.

As an actor, he has been seen in Pinocchio (Wheelock Family Theatre); Arabian Nights (Central Square Theatre); Beat Generation (Merrimack Repertory Theatre); Mortal Terror and Legally Dead (Boston Playwrights' Theatre); Superior Donuts and The Understudy (Lyric Stage Company); Romeo and Juliet and Gaslight (Stoneham Theatre); A Midsummer Night's Dream (Actors' Shakespeare Project); Picasso at the Lapin Agile (New Repertory Theatre); Angels in America Parts 1 and 2 (Boston Theatre Works); As Bees in Honey Drown and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged (Foothills Theatre Company); Houston,  Fracking With Walt Whitman, A Tall Order, Ritz Rendezvous and The Trophy (Boston Theatre Marathon); Nobody (Boston Theatre Works Unbound); as well as numerous readings for both Boston Playwrights Theatre and Lesley University. Webb was a three-year company member of the Tony-award winning Denver Center Theatre Company, appearing in their productions of A Lie of the Mind, Hay Fever, The Skin of Our Teeth, A Christmas Carol, Love’s Labours Lost and the world premiere of Jeffrey Hatcher’s Pierre. In Chicago, he appeared in productions of Wait Until Dark, What the Butler Saw and True West (Borealis Theatre Company) and A Streetcar Named Desire (New World Repertory). He also performed two seasons with the Michigan Shakespeare Festival, where he was seen in their productions of Much Ado About Nothing and as the title role in Hamlet. Webb's film credits include in Martin Scorsese’s 2008 film, Shutter Island, Hands of the Nocturnal Clock, Weight, The Play Front, Meat Me In Plainville and WarDogs.

Webb's directing credits include: Big Love, HAIR (with Neil Donohoe), Noises Off!, The Way of the World, Polaroid Stories, Iphigenia 2.0 and Kurt Vonnegut's Between Time and Timbuktu (The Boston Conservatory); Equus (Off the Grid Theatre Company); The Yellow Wallpaper (Off the Grid/Persephone Theatre Project); The Santaland Diaries (New Repertory Theatre and The Peterborough Players); Hamlet and Burbage (Bay Colony Shakespeare Company); Hamlet (Gan-e-meed Theatre Project); The Rainmaker (Foothills Theatre Company); Of Mice and Men (New Rep On Tour); Waiting Room (Persephone Theatre Project); Bernarda Alba, Guys and Dolls and You Can’t Take it With You (Stoneham Theatre’s Young Company); The Fence (Second Act Productions); Into the Woods (Summer School for the Performing Arts); Slugger, Outed and The Trophy (Boston Theatre Marathon); Antigone (Munroe Center for the Arts); faith & redemption, Savage/Love and Revolution: A Song of Black Freedom (Northern Illinois University); Boy Gets Girl (Worcester State University); Hero (Starving Artists Theatre Company); War in Heaven and Voodoo Child (National Theatre Conservatory); The Food Chain, No Exit and Babel Rap (Western Michigan University); as well as numerous readings for Boston Playwrights Theatre and Lesley University.

Webb has taught with Lesley University, Emerson College, Summer School for the Performing Arts, Worcester State University, the Illinois Institute of Art, the Denver Center Theatre Academy, The Munroe Center for the Arts, New Repertory Theatre, The United South End Settlements and Stoneham Theatre. He is the resident director with Persephone Theatre Project, a founding member of Proscenium Playwrights a company member of Off The Grid Theatre Company and a proud member of Actors Equity Association.

Webb currently teaches Viewpoints®, Acting, and Musical Theatre Styles and Analysis Script and Score at The Boston Conservatory.
