Due to weather, The Boston Conservatory will CLOSE at 3 p.m. on Friday, February 5. During this time, all classes are canceled and all offices are closed. Performances and rehearsals scheduled for tonight will continue as planned, and practice rooms on campus will remain open and available to students. De Ama Battle

African Dance Faculty

De Ama Battle holds a M.Ed and is founder/director of the Art of Black Dance and Music, Inc. She has traveled to Africa many times to study, perform, understand and document the historical roots of the African American dance tradition.

Battle has received many citations, recognitions and awards, including The Elliot Norton Award, the Terpsichore Award, The Commonwealth Award, recognition from the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) and the Achievement in the Arts Award, presented by the League of African American Women. Battle received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Mount Ida College in 1996.
