Julia Boynton

Tap Faculty

Julia Boynton was inspired by Fred Astaire, Eleanor Powell, Gene Kelly, Sammy Davis Jr., Jimmy Slyde and Gregory Hines. She has performed with Brian Jones’ All-Tap Revue, Heather Cornell’s Manhattan Tap and co-founded Stop Time, a N.E. jazz-tap quartet. She has taught tap in Brazil, Mexico and Venezuela and nationally at the New Orleans Center for the Performing Arts, the Florida Dance Festival, the Jazz Project at Jacob's Pillow, the Dance Program at  Harvard, the Harvard Summer Dance Center, the Dance Program at MIT, Emerson College, the Leon Collins Studio and the Jeannette Neill Dance Studio.

Boynton has been teaching for The Boston Conservatory’s Summer Dance Program since 2000. She is co-director of Boston Percussive Dance, studio for tap, Irish and flamenco dance, and she is the founding director of the Beantown Tap Fest, Boston's annual summer tap dance festival.
