Julie Pappas Smith

Julie Pappas Smith began dancing at 2 years old in Massachusetts. Loving it so much she made it a daily routine and was dancing in The Midge & Bill Haggetts’ Young Dance Co. in her early teen. She decided to get more serious about her ballet training and found the Marblehead School of Ballet, Paula Shiff and the North Shore Civic Ballet Co. where she studied 6 days a week for many years. She still returns to teach master classes for MSB and the New England Dance Alliance.

Julie received a BFA from The Boston Conservatory of Music majoring in Musical Theatre. Ms. Pappas Smith began her professional career moving to Florida where she worked at Walt Disney World and opened Epcot Center as a dancer and singer, in a variety of shows and events, dancing alongside and opening for names such as Ben Vereen, Maureen McGovern, Carol Lawrence and Debbie Boone. She also worked for Tokyo Disneyland.

Ms. Pappas Smith has been seen around the world as a featured vocalist at the Royal Albert Hall, on cruise lines, and with international and 1st National Broadway tours across the US & Europe : A CHORUS LINE, BEAUTY & THE BEAST & SHOWBOAT, directed & choreographed by Tony Award winners Harold Prince and Susan Stroman. Off Broadway and regional leading & supporting roles include: CATS, KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN, SOUTH PACIFIC  & WESTSIDE STORY,MY FAIR LADY, 42ND STREET. Julie has also had the opportunity to work in television, film and recording studios.

As a young professional, living and making her career blossom in NYC, she continued her acting, singing  and dance training on a daily schedule at Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway. With a professional career dancing and singing 8 shows a week, Julie developed a chronic knee injury which lead her to Zena Rommett’s Floor-Barre(t). Working with Zena for over a decade, Julie’s career was strengthened by her new found understanding of proper placement, body alignment and technique. Julie is a senior Zena Rommett Floor-Barre instructor as well as Pilates &  Zumba trainer. Ms. Pappas Smith has the experience and knowledge of working with a variety of injuries and disabilities. She continues to study and learn all that she can and has attended Dance for PD at the Mark Morris Dance Group  and is working  with Parkinson’s Disease, Alzhiemers and Dementia patients as well as students with fused backs and metal rod inserts and hip and knee replacements.

Julie Pappas Smith teaches in the Miami area, dance, voice and choreographs for a number of Magnet programs. As a professional who has had a vast experience in the business, the reward to help others achieve their dreams is the greatest gift!
