Lynn Torgove

Vocal/Choral Intensive Faculty

Lynn Torgove, mezzo-soprano, was an original member of the Peter Sellars/Craig Smith production of The Marriage of Figaro, broadcast on PBS. Other operatic roles include the Son/Juniper Bird in the world premiere of the Philip Glass/Robert Moran opera, The Juniper Tree, Eurydice in Glass' Orphee and Polly Peachum in The Threepenny Opera with the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge. She has appeared with the St. Louis Symphony, the Portland Symphony Orchestra, the Tallahassee Symphony, the Springfield Symphony (Ohio), the Cantata Singers, the Berkshire Choral Festival, Boston Lyric Opera and the Masterworks Chorale. Recent engagements have included a national tour with the Boston Camerata, performances and recording of Lukas Foss' Griffelkin with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, on the Chandos label, and a Telarc recording, Fourth River, with Tapestry. Torgove is also well known as a recitalist, performing with pianist Kayo Iwama, and most recently touring in a series of concerts performing and premiering works by John Harbison and Andy Vores. Torgove has been a member of the teaching faculties at the Walnut Hill School, where she was Director of the Vocal Program and Opera Ensemble, and at the New England Conservatory, Boston University and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute as stage director. She is currently a freelance stage director and professional singer, and is studying to be a cantor at Hebrew College in Newton, MA. She is the co-founder of Gabriel Associates, a presentation skills consulting firm.
