Mark Ammons

Modern Drama Faculty

Mark Ammons has worked professionally as a director, actor, producer and screenwriter. As faculty and guest artist, he has taught modern drama, contemporary trends, acting, directing and playwriting at numerous New England institutions, including Tufts University, MIT and the University of Connecticut, where he also headed the Shubert Foundation’s New Playwrights Program. 

A fiction and mystery writer, Ammons most recent piece won the Mystery Writers of America 2008 Robert L. Fish Award and was simultaneously an Edgar® Nominee for Best Short Story of the year. 

Ammons earned his B.A. from the University of Cincinnati and his M.F.A. from the University of Washington. He completed doctoral studies at the University of Illinois.
