Mihail Jojatu

Cello Faculty

Mihail Jojatu earned a B.M. from the Bucharest National University of Music and received a Conservatory Diploma from The Boston Conservatory, with additional studies at Boston University. He has studied with Ronald Feldman, Bernard Greenhouse and Jules Eskin.

Jojatu has been a Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) member since 2001 and a Sandra and David Bakalar Chair (fourth chair) since 2003. His concerto solo performances have been with the National Radio Symphony of Bucharest, the Boston Pops, the Longwood and Berkshire Symphonies and Indian Hill Orchestra. His chamber music collaborators include Yefim Bronfman, Gil Shaham, Sarah Chang, Peter Serkin, Glenn Dicterow and members of the Juilliard and Muir String Quartets. Jojatu is an active member of the Triptych String Trio, whose first compact disc aimed to benefit Community Servings, a Boston-based charity group serving prepared meals to people ill with the AIDS virus.
