Conservatory Connections

Student Affairs encourages students to give back to the community by participating in various outreach events through our Conservatory Connections performance program and traditional service opportunities through the Boston Cares Campus Initiative program.

Conservatory Connections

The Conservatory Connections program provides exceptional student performances for various community organizations. We are committed to sharing the talent of our students with a variety of audiences who are unable to attend traditional performances.

Our objectives are:

  • To connect with a diverse community of audiences.
  • To develop community partnerships throughout the Boston area.
  • To provide performance opportunities for our students.
  • To introduce students to new audiences and non-traditional performance spaces.
  • To make art more accessible to the community.
  • To highlight the extraordinary talent of the Conservatory to the Boston community.

Performance Opportunities

Cabaret

The Boston Conservatory Cabaret is an auditioned musical theater group that performs for low-income, youth, elderly and physically challenged populations in Boston neighborhoods. Auditions are held during the week of orientation. The Cabaret is a paid engagement through the workstudy program.

Chamber Music

Chamber Music Ensembles perform at various non-traditional community locations throughout the Boston area. Ensembles are created through the Chamber Music program and assist in outreach performances throughout the fall and spring semesters.

Children’s Opera

Twice each year, the children’s opera program performs for children and families at The Boston Conservatory’s Seully Hall and at the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, MA. In addition, they perform as part of the outreach program at the Boston Children’s Hospital once each semester.

Troubadours

The Boston Conservatory Troubadours is an auditioned student group of voice performance and opera majors that perform throughout the Boston community. Auditions are held each fall as part of the regular audition process.

Music Education Outreach

Students from the Music Education division are encouraged to take part in monthly outreach activities that take place at community centers and afterschool programs. Students interact with local children through activities that teach them about music, rhythm, a variety of instruments and movement.
