Dance Division

The Boston Conservatory was the first college in the nation to have an integrated department of ballet and modern dance. Today, we continue to expand the diversity of our dance training with classes in tap, musical theater and cultural dance styles.

Degree Offered

Watch Boston Conservatory dancers make the most of their new large scale dance studio during recent photo-shoot with Liz Linder. The new dance studio—boasting 20’ ceilings and 1600+ square feet of space—is part of the renovation and expansion of the Conservatory’s 60-year old theater building, re-opening in fall 2010.

Your Training

Here you will train in both ballet and modern and learn how the two disciplines inspire and inform each other. Given the importance of health and wellness to dancers, The Boston Conservatory also teaches classes in Alexander Technique, Pilates, Gyrokinesis, nutrition and anatomy.

Your Teachers

Our faculty and guest instructors consist of world-class artists from major dance companies. They bring a wide breadth of experience and training to the program, having worked with such notable choreographers as Tudor, Joffrey, Limón, Graham, Ailey and de Mille, as well as with companies such as Boston Ballet, Joffrey Ballet of New York and Limón Dance Company.
