“I want to help singers find their voices.”

–Patty Thom, Chair, voice and opera department

“I give to The Boston Conservatory’s Annual Fund because I see the education at the Conservatory as being dynamic and evolving; the program has tremendous potential. As a faculty member, I see this as something that is worth investing in, both in terms of my time and my giving. The Boston Conservatory is a place where you can get in and get your hands dirty and make a difference, a place where you can have a real impact as an individual. The Conservatory is poised to do some really remarkable things, so I want to help make that happen in whatever ways I can.

Increased scholarship funds are the most important impact of giving. They enable students who can most benefit from our particular program and from our curriculum to be here. I want to help singers find their voices and make their most expressive, most colorful, most beautiful sound, the sound that best represents them—and I want to engage in that training with any singer who is committed to being here, regardless of his or her ability to pay.

Patty Thom has been the chair of the voice and opera department since 2002.
