Smoke-Free Campus

The Boston Conservatory is committed to providing a healthy, comfortable, productive environment for students, faculty and staff.  Recognizing the health risks of smokers and the hazards associated with involuntary smoking, the Conservatory has adopted a smoke-free campus policy.

The smoke-free policy applies to all Conservatory facilities, owned or leased, including common areas and individual rooms in residence halls. Smoking is also prohibited within 25 feet of all exits to ensure that environmental tobacco smoke does not enter the area through entrances, windows, ventilation systems or any other means.

No ashtrays will be provided at any location on campus.

Referrals to smoking cessation programs will be made available to assist and encourage individuals who wish to quit smoking.  Please see the Director of Wellness Services for this information.

Smoking is also prohibited in all of The Boston Conservatory leased or rented transportation vehicles, including buses, vans and shuttles.

Funding, donations, giveaways and other remuneration for Conservatory events and activities by the manufacturers, distributors or sellers of tobacco and tobacco products are prohibited.

Public Safety Officers will be responsible for enforcing this policy at entrance and exit areas.  However, all members of The Boston Conservatory community share in the responsibility for adhering to and enforcing this policy.  Violations of this policy will result in disciplinary action.
