Associate Director of Alumni & Parent Relations

General Statement of Job Functions 

The Associate Director of Alumni and Parent Relations is responsible for fundraising, planning and implementing programs and projects that strategically engage Alumni and Parents through institutional support and service.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement programs to increase annual fund support for  Alumni and Parents
  • Manage all aspects of the Alumni and Parent giving campaigns for the Annual Fund; including management of  the Annual Fund Phonathon
  • Cultivate, solicit and steward Alumni and Parents—locally, regionally, nationally and internationally
  • Provide leadership and support to the major gifts team regarding Alumni and Parent giving; routinely identify and qualify Alumni and Parent prospects for major gifts
  • Staff the Alumni Affairs Committee and National Committees, ensuring strong and productive relationships between members and institutional leadership
  • Manage all special events for Alumni and Parents,  including Orientation, Family & Friends Weekend, and commencement
  • Maintain regular communication with Alumni and Parents via direct contact, email blasts, web pages, print publications, etc.
  • Monitor budgets and operation of Alumni and Parent programs; ensure accurate and complete Alumni and Parent database records
  • Work with Student Affairs to plan the growth and accessibility of career networking services for students and Alumni
  • Provide support to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement for all National Programs efforts
  • Assist at donor-related events, often on weeknights or weekends, and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required and minimum 4 years of related work in an educational or non-profit setting
  • Solid experience in computer and information technology or database management preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement programs
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Ability to work independently; excellent attention to detail required
  • Willingness to travel required
  • Performing arts background a plus
