                               Ilana Revkin, Public Services Librarian

                               Brendan Higgins, Evening Supervisor                             

Work Hours:       to be determined at $8/hr

Classification:    Work Study & Conservatory Employment

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

The primary duties of a library student worker involve providing assistance to library users, especially at the circulation desk. Student workers play an essential part in keeping the library open its many hours during the academic year.

  • Performs circulation duties, including checking–out items, assistance with course reserves, searching the catalog, and item retrieval for non-circulating items.
  • Answers simple, in-person and telephone reference questions.
  • Shelves library materials.
  • Works on binding and accessioning assignments.
  • Prepares materials for ILL shipping.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

v  Strong musical aptitude.

v  Must be proficient in English.

v  Basic computer skills.

v  Responsible-minded individuals who can adhere to a work schedule on a timely basis.

v  Strong interpersonal skills.

v  Previous work experience, especially in libraries or customer service.

v  Comfortable with some heavy lifting.

v  Must be able to work well with others and independently.

Fall 2013:  up to 8 positions available: work study and conservatory employment.
