Master of Music in Choral Conducting

Your Training

At The Boston Conservatory, Choral Conducting is a program for a limited number of majors at the graduate level. The specialized courses, individualized lessons and opportunities to appear in front of Boston Conservatory's choirs offer varied forums for gathering, sharing and exploring ideas about rehearsal technique, performance protocols, repertoire, vocal technique, and a spectrum of artistic and practical issues.

  • Choral Repertoire I, II, III, IV (Antiquity to the Present)
  • Music History: Graduate Seminars in Music History 
  • Composition: Composing and Arranging for the Voice
  • Theory: Moveable do for Singers and Conductor; Advanced Solfège and Score Reading: Vocal and Choral

Your Performance Opportunities

Students receive plenty of opportunities to be in front of the podium–in class, in private lessons and in front of large ensembles. Practical experience is gained through conducting and performing with The Boston Conservatory Chorale, the Women’s Chorus and smaller a capella groups.
