Composer Recital Series

The 30-concert Composer Recital Series (CRS) provides opportunities for student composers to present their work publicly. In addition to performances organized by the composers themselves, each semester the department programs works through the Composers' Orchestra, the Ensembles-in-Residence (EIR), and the New Music Chamber Ensembles (NMCE).

• Concerts are recorded by the Audio-Visual (AV) Department. Recordings are available from the Composition Department office the week following the concert.

• In order to be programmed a Performance Information Sheet is required.

• Recitals are scheduled by the Composition Department but, except for the Composers' Orchestra concert and the EIR concerts, rehearsal time is not. Composers and performers should book rehearsal times for their own performances directly with Tuaha Khan, Concert Services Manager.

• Attendance at each concert in the Composer Recital Series is a requirement of the Applied Lesson.

For 2011/12 two ensembles each semester will perform only contemporary music including works by student composers. Each ensemble will perform four student pieces each semester. The fall semester ensembles are Brass Quintet anda String Quartet. The spring semester presents works for a duo of clarinet and marimba; a trio of flute, violin, and cello; and a quintet for all five instruments.
