Ensemble Programs

The Boston Conservatory performs!

We offer a wide variety of ensembles including Orchestras, Wind and Percussion Ensembles, Theater Orchestras, and Choral Ensembles. Placement into all ensembles is by audition only, and these auditions are held each year before the start of classes in late August. We offer a full season of rehearsals and concerts under conditions resembling the professional world.   Our concert preparation usually begins on a Monday, and continues on weekdays for two weeks, culminating in a performance at the end of the cycle.

Stylistic versatility is a distinct advantage for the aspiring musician and, due to the diversity of our ensemble offerings, The Boston Conservatory provides students with the skills and experiences needed to succeed in a multitude of future paths in the professional world. Our ensembles perform music from the standard classical repertoire, as well as from the 20th and 21st centuries, including popular styles.

Our venues include a number of on campus locations: Seully Hall, Mainstage Theater, and Studio 401. Additionally, performances are held in Northeastern University’s neighboring Fenway Center, historic Old South Church in Copley Square, as well as Sanders Theater, located on Harvard's campus in Cambridge, MA.

Students majoring in Brass, String, Woodwind and Percussion performance are required to enroll in “Instrumental Ensemble” during each of their semesters in residence.
