Wind Ensemble Composition Competition


Students are asked to submit sample scores for large ensemble and a proposal for a new work for wind ensemble. The winning composer's new work will be performed by The Boston Conservatory Wind Ensemble conducted by Eric Hewitt, in the April Wind Ensemble concert. 

Submissions
WHEN: Monday, September 30, by 1:00pm 
WHERE: Room 221 
WHAT: one or two representative scores for orchestra or large ensemble, with recordings if available. 

Winning Composer
The winning composer will be notified by Monday, October 7, and will be asked to write a new work for wind ensemble.
WHEN: Monday, March 10, by 1:00pm 
WHERE: Room 221 
WHAT: a bound score with an instrumentation page and a title page; set of bound parts for each instrument 
INSTRUMENTATION: drawn from the following: 
  piccolo
, 2 flutes
  2 oboes, english horn
  Eb clarinet, 2 Bb clarinets, bass clarinet
  2 bassoons, contrabassoon
  3 saxes (any combination)
  4 horns
  5 trumpets
  2 tenor trombones, bass trombone
  tuba
  timpani, 2 percussion
  piano, harp
  doublebass
DURATION:
8–12 minutes
