Boston Conservatory Dance Division Honored

BOSTON, MA (Feb. 3, 2014)—The Boston Conservatory Dance Division was chosen to represent the American College Dance Festival Association at the National Gala at the Kennedy Center in June. The piece was chosen after the 28 students of the junior class performed guest artist Adam Barruch's piece, Phenomena, at the New England Conference at the beginning of the month.

“This is a huge honor for our dancers and our school,” said Dance Division Director Cathy Young. “It speaks to the level of choreography we are presenting as well as the level of artistry of our students.”

Competing alongside more than 50 colleges from all over New England, The Boston Conservatory was selected to perform at the Regional Gala as well. This is the second time in three years that the Dance Division has been chosen to perform at the National Gala, which is held every other year.

The American College Dance Festival Association conference provides the opportunity for students and faculty to have their dance works adjudicated by a panel of nationally recognized dance professionals in an open forum. Each conference allows students and faculty to participate in workshops, panels and masterclasses taught by instructors from around the country and culminates with the presentation of pieces selected for their artistic quality.
