The Boston Conservatory Joins the Boston Summer Arts Weekend

The Boston Conservatory will be participating in the 2nd annual WGBH/Boston Globe Boston Summer Arts Weekend taking place on July 26-28 at Copley Square.

The Conservatory is a proud sponsor of the three-day festival featuring artists like Dr. John, The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Allison Krauss, the Boston Landmarks Orchestra and many others. 

“We are very excited to be a part of what is quickly becoming a great summer tradition in Boston,” said Leslie Jacobson Kaye, Vice President for Institutional Advancement. “The Boston arts community is one of the strongest in the country and the Conservatory is pleased to partner with WGBH and the Globe to bring free arts programming to the community.”

The Conservatory will have two groups performing in the festival, including a Marimba ensemble performing at 7:30pm Saturday, July 27on the Fountain Stage and the Musical Theater Broadway Revue performing at 1:30 pm on Sunday, July 28. The Conservatory booth will also host a children’s “instrument petting zoo,” which will allow summer music education students to interact with children interested in various instruments.

In a break with tradition, tickets to select, upcoming fall performances will be sold in advance at the booth.

“For the first time, BSAW attendees can get exclusive presale access to all our fall shows,” said Olivia Levering, Audience Services manager of The Boston Conservatory. “We’re also offering special discounted rates to performances.”

Visitors can purchase Boston Conservatory branded t-shirts and bags as well as score some free merchandise like fans and frisbees.

The Boston Conservatory will also be sponsoring the BSAW After Dark shows on both the Friday and Saturday evenings. Conservatory President Richard Ortner and Director of External Relations Kim Haack will be introducing the performers. During the shows, the MainStage performers from each day will come together and continue their sets for viewers in small, intimate nightclub settings.

BSAW is free and open to the public on Friday, July 26 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, July 27 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday, July 28 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. To purchase tickets to the After Dark events, visit the BSAW website.
