Cangelosi - Plato's Cave

Plato’s Cave (2 players)

By Casey Cangelosi

A unique, theatrical work, Plato’s Cave is for two players with no instruments.  The players sit cross-legged on the floor and perform carefully aligned movements, including stick tapping hitting the floor, and movements in the air.  The challenge comes when, 3 minutes into the piece, the players must turn away from each other and continue to coordinate their movements, including alternating off beats and long pauses.  Difficult to choreograph, this piece makes for an interesting and engaging break form the standard concert program.
