Messerschmidt - A Movement for a Short Attention Span

A movement for a Short Attention Span - For Marimba and Piano

By Ted Messerschmidt

A Movement for Short Attention Span is an arrangement of the last
movement of Three Movements for Short Attention Span, a piece for
piano I wrote in graduate school. The title refers to the relatively
short length of the piece and is a commentary on modern listening
habits; I hope that the fast pace of the piece combined with its short
length will allow even the most impatient listeners to remain engaged
during its performance. As an arrangement, A Movement for Short
Attention Span is not the most idiomatic piece for marimba, but it
offers the modern marimba soloist the exciting opportunity and
challenge to play pianistically with four mallets.
