Choose Your Program ------------------- Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater Master of Music in Musical Theater
The Theater Division's curriculum includes all of the components of theater performance training—acting, speech, dance, theater movement, voice, musicianship, directing, stagecraft, and theater academics—but the focus on musical theater training is what sets us apart. Students will take a unique and comprehensive set of courses that include small and large ensemble training, solo interpretation, cabaret, and intensive script and score analysis from the major genres of musical theater. Every aspect of theater training at The Boston Conservatory focuses on helping the student achieve professional readiness. Students will also receive professional grooming and skills for auditions and cold readings, development of their repertoire, interviewing skills, and business skills—including how to manage agents, casting directors, managers, and contracts. In the senior year, students choose an emphasis in Directing, Music Performance, Dance, or Acting.
As an integral part of the curriculum of each of the performing arts divisions, the Conservatory offers a solid array of liberal arts courses. To further round out their education, students may enroll in related classes at several neighboring humanities-oriented institutions, which make up the Pro Arts Consortium.
