8/10/10: The Boston Conservatory Announces Fall Season (BOSTON—8/10/10) The Boston Conservatory offers award-winning, affordable, high-quality performances by students, faculty and guest artists throughout the school year. Among the offerings for the fall 2010 season: new installments of the wildly popular "Piano Masters" and “String Masters” series, a festival of new music, the Dance Division celebrates Nikolais, Sweeney Todd, and Twelfth Night, plus performances of classical music, theater and opera, including programming specifically geared to children. 5/11/10: Boston Conservatory Releases First Commercial Recording(BOSTON – May 10, 2010) The Boston Conservatory proudly announces the school’s first commercial recording release. Under the leadership and tutelage of The Boston Conservatory Wind Ensemble Conductor Eric Hewitt, The Boston Conservatory is releasing a live recording of the Wind Ensemble’s November 21, 2008 concert–—featuring five new works commissioned and created especially for the Conservatory–—as well as an April 2009 live recording of a new work by Marti Epstein. Released through Gunther Schuller’s GM Recordings, the album, “Deviation,” is now available for purchase on iTunes (http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/deviation/id368040552) and will be available on Amazon.com and in retail stores later this summer.
4/30/10: Boston Conservatory to Honor Emanuel Azenberg and Bruce Marks(BOSTON – April 30, 2010) The Boston Conservatory will honor Broadway producer Emanuel “Manny” Azenberg, as well as Bruce Marks, former Artistic Director of Boston Ballet, at its 142nd commencement ceremony on Friday, May 14 at 2:00 pm at the Back Bay Events Center in Boston. There will be 174 degrees awarded, including 83 Bachelors, 77 Masters, 13 Graduate Performance Diplomas and one Artist Performance Diploma. In addition The Boston Conservatory will present its Distinguished Alumni Award to Pam Pariseau (B.F.A, musical theater, ‘88).
2/22/10: Boston Conservatory Announces New String Artist-in-Residency Boston, MA—February 22, 2010—The Boston Conservatory announces its new annual String Artist-in-Residence Series beginning in 2010-2011. The new series invites guest faculty artists—each a notable luminary in the string world—to come to the Conservatory to perform and to teach master classes and individual lessons with select students to help them gain a deeper understanding of their instrument and the discipline behind it. 11/6/09: Boston Conservatory and Lee Kennedy Co. Announce “Topping Off”BOSTON, MA—November 6, 2009—The Boston Conservatory, together with Lee Kennedy Co., announces the “topping off” of the Hemenway Project, the $30 million renovation and expansion of the Conservatory’s 60-year old theater building. The brief topping off ceremony, whereby the final and highest beam will be hoisted and placed at the top of the building, will take place today, November 6, 2009, at 12:30pm at 31 Hemenway Street. The event will be commemorated by a brass quintet (performing from the roof of the building) and balloon release (using biodegradable latex balloons). Guests are asked to convene on Hemenway Street on the sidewalk directly across from the theater building for best viewing. 11/5/09: Boston Conservatory Harpist Takes Top Prize in Global Competition(BOSTON—November 5, 2009) Harpist Ina Zdorovetchi, a graduate of The Boston Conservatory who is now a member of the harp faculty, took the top prize at the 50th anniversary International Harp Contest in Israel, the most important competition of its kind in the world. The contest was held in Tel Aviv in October,and prize winners were chosen by a jury of 12 members—a group of previous first prize winners and internationally celebrated musicians, hailing from nine different countries. Zdorovetchi was awarded second prize (first prize not awarded).
10/16/09: Announcing NEW MM in Collaborative Piano and Vocal PedagogyThe Boston Conservatory, the oldest conservatory of its kind in the nation, announces two new masters degree programs in collaborative piano and vocal pedagogy. Available to students in fall 2010, these degree programs will expand the Conservatory’s extensive list of degree offerings, providing select music students with new and different avenues for pursuing careers as professional musicians.
9/30/09: Boston Conservatory featured on WCVB-TV's "Chronicle"The Boston Conservatory was featured on "Chronicle," Boston's award-winning TV newsmagazine program, on Wednesday, September 30, at 7:30pm on WCVB-TV (channel 5). Chronicle devoted its entire 30-minute program to what it dubbed a "Star Factory," taking viewers behind the scenes into the Conservatory's classrooms, theaters and studios to witness the training of tomorrow's performers.

8/31/09: Boston Conservatory Announces $2 Million Challenge from CalderwoodBoston Conservatory, the oldest conservatory of its kind in the nation, announces a generous $2 million challenge from the Calderwood Charitable Foundation, a trust founded by the late Stanford Calderwood, a longtime supporter of the arts in Boston. The Calderwood Charitable Foundation has pledged $2 million to The Campaign for The Boston Conservatory if the Conservatory can secure a matching $2 million from no more than four additional donors within one year of the start of that challenge. 8/3/09: The Boston Conservatory Announces Fall 2009 SeasonThe Conservatory offers several free performances with ticketed events ranging from $22-$5. 7/13/09: Dr. Patricia Hoy Appointed Dean of The Boston ConservatoryBoston Conservatory President Richard Ortner announces the appointment of Dr. Patricia Hoy to the post of Dean of The Boston Conservatory. Hoy, who most recently served as the director of the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music at the University of Memphis, now assumes overall responsibility for the development and administration of academic programs and faculty at the 142-year-old internationally renowned Boston Conservatory. She joined the Conservatory on July 1, 2009.

More....4/30/09: Boston Conservatory to Honor Barbara Cook & Mary RodgersThe Boston Conservatory will honor singer and actress Barbara Cook, as well as composer and screenwriter Mary Rodgers at its 142nd commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 16 at 2:30 pm at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. There will be 179 degrees awarded, including 94 Bachelors, 79 Masters, and 6 Graduate Performance Diplomas. In addition The Boston Conservatory will present its Distinguished Alumni Award to G. Clayton “Clay” Taliaferro (B.F.A. ’64 dance).
4/09/09: Boston Conservatory at Midway Studios During 2009-2010 Season The Boston Conservatory, the internationally renowned college offering degrees in music, dance and musical theater, will perform at the Midway Studios in South Boston during the 2009-2010 academic and performance season. The Conservatory is temporarily closing operations at its theater building at 31 Hemenway Street to allow for construction of the Hemenway Project, a major expansion and renovation project that will add 16,000 square feet of new rehearsal and studio performance space, air conditioning, handicapped accessibility, improved seating and a host of technical upgrades in its 300-seat theater.
4/02/09: Boston Conservatory's Karl Paulnack Reaches Thousands with SpeechThe Boston Conservatory’s Music Division Director Karl Paulnack is reaching a worldwide audience of thousands via the internet, with his inspirational speech about the nature and ultimate power of music. Most recently, singer and producer Linda Ronstadt quoted Paulnack’s speech extensively in her testimony to Congress earlier this week. Ronstadt joined fellow arts leaders, including Wynton Marsalis and Josh Groban, in a joint effort to press the U.S. House Subcommittee on Interior and the Environment for better arts funding. The two firms join Handel Architects as the team responsible for the Conservatory’s transformation of its 60-year old theater building.
