The state of Massachusetts requires all full-time and three-quarter-time students to be enrolled in a qualifying student health insurance plan. This may be in the form of the student's own qualifying health insurance plan, or the qualifying health insurance plan offered through The Boston Conservatory. Students must either purchase the school sponsored health plan or show proof of comparable coverage in an alternate US based health insurance plan.

All full-time and three-quarter-time students are automatically enrolled in, and charged for, the Boston Conservatory Student Health Insurance Plan.

  • If you do not wish to be enrolled you must waive the Student Health Insurance at www.gallagherkoster.com each year (see requirements below).
  • For those students who elect to enroll in The Boston Conservatory Health Insurance Plan, you do not need to do anything. An insurance card will be waiting for you at the beginning of the academic year.

Requirements for Waiving the Student Health Insurance Plan
If you have a U.S. based insurance plan that fulfills the minimum coverage requirements, you may choose to waive The Boston Conservatory qualifying student health insurance plan for the academic year.

In order to waive The Boston Conservatory Student Health Insurance Plan, you must fill out the online waiver form (www.gallagherkoster.com) a minimum of 2 weeks before the start of classes. Please be advised that you must fill out an online waiver form each academic year you elect to waive coverage. If a waiver is not completed, you will be responsible for paying the cost of the student health insurance plan.

An Important Note for All International Students
International students should note that Massachusetts state law requires that students must enroll in the Boston Conservatory Student Health Insurance Plan or have a comparable US based health insurance plan. Insurance coverage through carriers outside the U.S. is not acceptable. Although many travel plans offer some form of health insurance, most do not offer the minimum benefit level and required services that the state mandates, and many are not offered through insurance carriers in the U.S. , and therefore would not be considered comparable coverage. In addition to the health insurance requirements, all international students are required to enroll in emergency medical evacuation and repatriation coverage at a nominal fee. If you are an international student participating in a US based insurance plan that fulfills the minimum requirements, please contact the Wellness Coordinator at (617) 912-9260 or wellness@bostonconservatory.edu to discuss a waiver.

If you have a question or concern regarding health insurance requirements, you may contact the Wellness Coordinator at (617) 912-9260 or wellness@bostonconservatory.edu.
