Research Methodologies and Procedures in Music Education

Description

This course will provide students with knowledge of and direct experience with various forms of research in music education, including quantitative research (surveys, experimental), qualitative research (observations and interviews), arts-based, participatory action, and mixed methods research. Students will learn how to design and execute a research study that explores a topic in music education. Course projects will include crafting research questions, writing a literature review, developing a research proposal, collecting data, analyzing data, and composing a research report. This course is required of all master's degree students in music education and must be taken before students can begin their thesis or research/teaching project.
