Andrew Bisantz joined the Conservatory in 2023 as principal opera conductor and coach for the opera studio. His long career includes over 85 productions for opera companies and major educational programs throughout the U.S., with a breadth of repertoire spanning both the traditional operatic canon and works by living composers.

Bisantz has received accolades from Opera Newsthe New York Timesthe Washington Postthe Miami Heraldthe Toronto Globe and Mailthe Boston Globe, and the Buffalo News. Recent notable productions include his Arizona Opera debut with Sondheim’s A Little Night Music, starring Patricia Racette and Keith Phares, and the premieres of Alice Riley and *Anna Hunter* (by Michael Ching) for Savannah Opera.  

He is artistic director and conductor of Eugene Opera; in his 15 seasons there he has led 27 productions exploring a wide range of repertoire, including the company premieres of Nixon in ChinaDead Man Walking, La fanciulla del WestEugene OneginLittle WomenMaría de Buenos AiresAs Onelittle match girl passion, and Lucy

Bisantz has conducted multiple productions with Boston Lyric Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, and Virginia Opera, and has appeared with Northwestern University Opera, Opera McGill, Opera Omaha, Opera San José, Shreveport Opera, the Savannah Music Festival, Wolf Trap Opera, and the Brevard Music Festival. He has led ten productions for Florida Grand Opera, including the world orchestral premiere of Daron Hagen’s New York Stories in February 2021. He has appeared with the Buffalo and Rochester philharmonics, the Boston Landmarks Orchestra, the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto, the Western New York Chamber Orchestra, and the Virginia Symphony. He received his B.M. in piano performance from State University of New York College at Fredonia and his M.M. in orchestral conducting from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
