Stylistic versatility is a distinct advantage for the aspiring musician. As professionals, students will need real performance experience in a variety of musical styles and settings.

Students will achieve this by performing weekly—as soloists, as  members of orchestras, wind or percussion ensembles, chamber groups, and chorales—and by their participation in more than 200 recitals, operas, and Theater and Dance Division productions each year. Students will play, compose, and sing for musical theater, ballet, and modern dance.

Through master classes, guest artists, and other special events—and the countless cultural events in Boston—students will be fully immersed in learning more about their craft from the world's top musicians.

Students need one-on-one training to learn the best technical skills. Our faculty includes members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Boston Pops, as well as numerous soloists and composers with international careers. Because of our small size, students get to know their teachers and fellow students as friends and colleagues, as well as fellow musicians.

As an integral part of the curriculum of each of the performing arts divisions, the Conservatory offers a solid array of liberal arts courses. To further round out their education, students may enroll in related classes at several neighboring humanities-oriented institutions, which make up the Pro Arts Consortium.
