If you experience or observe a safety or security violation of any type on or off-campus, please contact the Public Safety Officer in the lobby of 8 The Fenway as soon as possible to make a report.

The safety and security of our students is our number one priority.

The Boston Conservatory engages the services of Longwood Security Services, Inc. to provide 24-hour campus safety and security services.  The director, operations manager, and patrol supervisors are licensed by the Boston Police Department as special officers, giving them full law-enforcement and arrest authority in and on all property owned or controlled by The Boston Conservatory.

A public safety officer is stationed in 8 The Fenway from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Public safety officers also make regularly scheduled rounds throughout the campus.  All public safety personnel receive on-going training in crime prevention, fire safety, non-violent crisis intervention, emergency procedures, and other security and safety-related areas. All personnel are in constant two-way radio contact with the patrol supervisor.  The Department of Public Safety maintains close working relationships with Boston police and fire departments and with appropriate state and federal law enforcement agencies.

In addition, the majority of campus buildings are equipped with alarm, intercom, ID-card access and closed-circuit video systems. Emergency call boxes are located at 10 different locations on campus and in the vicinity.  These devices enhance the Conservatory's ability to protect the people who work, study and rehearse in these buildings while maintaining the critical balance between security of the facility and user convenience.

Welcome from Public Safety Director

For over 140 years, The Boston Conservatory has been preparing students for the challenges and rewards of careers in the performing arts.

The Boston Conservatory’s location, in the heart of one of the world’s most vibrant and dynamic cities, provides many opportunities for students to complement their academic experience with exposure to the arts, history, athletics, and diverse cultures.

With all that Boston has to offer, it is sometimes easy to forget that Boston is a major city, and that vigilance and preparedness are crucial to maintaining one’s personal safety and the security of one’s property.

While the members of The Boston Conservatory’s Department of Public Safety are here to maintain our institution as a safe, secure and comfortable place to live and learn, a truly safe environment may only be achieved with your active participation in the process.
