About the Artists
Boston Conservatory Faculty Woodwind Quintet: Sarah Brady, flute, joined the Conservatory in 2006 and is an associate professor of flute and contemporary music. Called “enchanting” by the Boston Globe, Brady is sought after across the country as a soloist, chamber musician, and master teacher. An avid promoter of new music, she has premiered and recorded music from many of today’s top composers. Learn more about Brady.Robert Sheena, oboe, joined the Conservatory in 2000 and is an associate professor teaching oboe and English horn. He is also on the oboe and English horn faculty of Boston University’s School of Music and the Tanglewood Institute, and he teaches and coaches the oboe fellowship students of the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s Tanglewood Music Center every summer. Sheena is the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s English horn player, having joined the orchestra in 1994. Learn more about Sheena.Jan Halloran, clarinet, joined the Conservatory in 2017 as an instructor of clarinet and chamber music. She also leads the Woodwind Seminar. Halloran holds the position of principal clarinet with Boston Lyric Opera and regularly appears with many of Boston’s preeminent ensembles, including Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Odyssey Opera, Boston Philharmonic, and Emmanuel Music. Learn more about Halloran.Margaret Phillips, bassoon, joined the Conservatory in 2014 and is an associate professor teaching bassoon and contrabassoon. In addition to private lessons, she also teaches reed making, holds a bassoon studio class, and coaches woodwind chamber music ensembles. Phillips is on the faculty at Berklee College of Music and Boston University as well. Learn more about Phillips.Anne Howarth, horn, joined the Conservatory in 2021 and is an assistant professor of horn. She also teaches chamber music and the brass section of the Orchestral Repertoire course. Fueled by a passion for small ensemble collaborations, Howarth brings expressiveness, creativity, and delight to her performances.
