Dance Division

The Dance Division develops world class dance artists by giving students individualized attention and rigorous training within a supportive and nurturing community. We believe that dance artistry requires more than just technical skill, but involves bridging from the inner self to the outer self, drawing on every aspect of the whole person.

Degree Offered

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Contemporary Dance Performance

Offering a B.F.A. in contemporary dance performance, The Boston Conservatory develops its students as world-class artists through rigorous technical training, thought-provoking academic coursework and a focus on the creative process. The diverse curriculum includes intensive study of ballet, modern dance, jazz, improvisation, composition and pedagogy.

Built on the foundation of classical tradition, our program embraces what is current and innovative in the field of dance. Our renowned faculty and esteemed visiting artists offer a depth of experience and breadth of approach that will transform you into a versatile and empowered artist with a uniquely individual voice.

The Boston Conservatory was named one of the "Top 10 Dance Colleges in the Country" and rated as "the best contemporary dance program in the country" by OnStage.

Your Training

Here you will train in both ballet and modern and learn how the two disciplines inspire and inform each other. Given the importance of health and wellness to dancers, The Boston Conservatory also teaches classes in Alexander Technique, Pilates, Gyrokinesis, nutrition and anatomy.

Your Teachers

Our faculty and guest instructors consist of world-class artists from major dance companies. They bring a wide breadth of experience and training to the program, having worked with such notable choreographers as Tudor, Joffrey, Limón, Graham, Ailey and de Mille, as well as with companies such as Boston Ballet, Joffrey Ballet of New York and Limón Dance Company.
